Landlord-Tenant Mediation Program

What is the program?

CMC meets with tenants who are behind in their rent and helps the tenant fill out forms to apply for rental assistance from CHN Housing Partners. CMC then contacts the landlord to schedule a mediation.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a process for resolving issues where a neutral third party helps parties have a conversation to jointly resolve their concerns.

What issues can be mediated?

  • Payment plans for back rent

  • Repairs needed

  • Communication issues

  • Other issues or concerns

What is the process?

Everyone will have a chance to talk about the situation from their perspective and will work together to develop a plan for resolving the issue and reducing future conflict.

What does a mediator do?

  • Acts impartially

  • Helps people talk to each other

  • Gives everyone time to share their concerns

  • Writes any agreements reached
