Mediation Training and Workshops in 2015

February 11, 2016

Last year was a busy year for our training program! In addition to our four regularly scheduled Fundamentals in Mediation trainings, Community West Foundation supported us  in putting on an additional Fundamentals of Mediation training at NEOCH (North East Ohio Coalition for the Homeless) for persons who have or are currently experiencing homelessness — and those who work with them.

For the first time in 5 years, we offered the 40 Hour Family and Divorce Mediation Training – and for the first time ever, CMC hosted the Domestic Abuse Issues for Mediators class as well.  These classes will offered again in 2016 and help fulfill the Ohio Supreme Court’s Rule 16 for mediators.

Diversion: A Conflict Resolution Approach to Keeping People Housed is a two-day training based on CMC’s conflict resolution and homeless prevention work that we do in Cleveland.  In 2015 I taught this course in Wilmington (DE), Seattle, Austin, Burlington (NC), Salt Lake City, Raleigh NC, and two times in Washington DC.

Additionally, I had the opportunity in 2015 to speak about CMC’s shelter conflict resolution work and shelter mediation at Ohio’s state-wide conference on housing. I also co-presented on Diversion at the National Alliance to End Homelessness convention in San Diego last February!

It’s been a busy year, and CMC’s training program continues to grow. We’re looking forward to seeing you in 2016!
