Since our inception, Cleveland Mediation Center has been involved in training mediators, initially training those interested in acting as volunteer mediators at CMC. As our reputation in training grew, CMC began to offer mediation training to the general public. We offer our Fundamentals of Mediation Training several times each year, and Advanced Mediation training courses periodically for those who have completed the Fundamentals class.
Fundamentals of Mediation
This highly interactive 20 hour training will provide an introduction to mediation using demonstrations and practice as well as lecture, discussion, and situational case studies. This is a practical course, incorporating a best practices approach to mediating.

Five Phase Facilitative/Empowerment Model
Client Centered Approach
Cultural Influences
Mediator Strategies
Uniform Mediation Act
Cost is $550 for the 3-day training.

Trainings will take place from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm EST each day for three consecutive days via the
Zoom web conferencing platform.
This training is approval for 18.5 CEUs and 18.5 CLEs, and also meets the training requirements set forth by the Ohio Supreme Court in Rule 16.
For those who have taken our training, we offer support to new mediators through observing mediations via Zoom web-conferencing and providing feedback. We also offer half-day Mediator Skills Workshops (see below) for those who want to practice and improve their skills.
Advanced Mediator Skills Training
This five (5) hour workshop is for mediators who have already taken our Fundamentals of Mediation training or an equivalent Basic Mediation course approved by the Ohio Supreme Court. This half day workshop will allow mediators to refine their skillset through mock mediations, receive coaching and ideas from our staff, and gather feedback and observations from other trained mediators. This workshop will also provide an opportunity to practice mediating in a virtual environment.
Cost is $100 for the half-day training. 4 CLE credits have been approved.
Trainings will take place via the Zoom web conferencing platform.
